happy halloween

hope you all have some tricks up your sleeve this weekend. the girls had a halloween party last weekend and had to dress up today for music class. they went as little french girls with berets and baguettes of bread. after the party last weekend, karoline had little bite marks out of the side of her bread. guess she needed a snack or one of her friends did. hope you all have a fun halloween weekend.

paper sculptures by anna-wili highfield

found these beautifully handcrafted paper bird sculptures at remodelista just in time for halloween. the artist is anna-wili highfield of sydney, australia. "the paper sculptures are created from archival cotton paper, that is painted, then sewn together to create the figure of an animal." aren't they lovely and a little spooky at the same time?

house tour: emma cassi

i have fallen hard for these images of interior stylist and jewelery designer emma cassi's home in london. i mean it just doesn't get any better than this my friends. the white painted floors. the little vignettes found throughout the house. the calming and serene shelves in the master bedroom. the white, black, and stainless color palette with color interjected at just the right spots. i mean this might be my all time favorite house tour. i know that is saying a lot seeing that i post house tours frequently. but, i really do love the personality and warmness she has added to a clean and streamline home. hope you get a kick out of this house tour as much as i did!

kids room

can't get my mind off of this kids room after spotting it on emmas design blog this weekend. i like so many things about this room. the 1/3 of the wall painted gray. the origami cranes. the branch hanging from the ceiling. the small garland hanging from the branch. and the cloud above the pillows.so many details to look at. so dear.

louise bell's fresh house tour

i have been following louise bell (native to sydney, australia) on her blog, table tonic, for almost a year now. yep, i'm a "tonic-ette". she is the forshizzle. she exudes energy and has the freshest style. her home was recently featured and on the cover of the november 2010 issue of real living magazine as you can see from the pics above. she has 2 children under the age of 6 so i love her ability to child proof a home, yet exude luxury. see more pics of her house here on her blog.

last weekend

my husband, josh, took this picture while we took a walk through arnold arboretum last weekend in boston. i think the blue sky filtering through is so pretty. not only did we celebrate my brother's engagement, but we had our german relatives in town (who we haven't seen since i was in middle school). i realized that i really should book a flight to see them in munich, germany. we all hung out at my uncle and aunt's house and had a feast of turkey with all the fixings. after downing a pumpkin whoopie pie we headed outside around the fire pit with fleece blankets and bottles of beer. i absolutely love new england weather in the fall and felt like we were able to fully embrace it last weekend.

kraft paper tablecloth

love this idea for a fun tablecloth using kraft paper. you could use it at a kids table or i would even use it for a family gathering with adults and kids. i think the adults would have just as much fun using the markers and crayons after a glass of wine.

emersonmade clothing

leave it to emersonmade to not only make the cutest handmade flower pins (i blogged about here), but a clothing and accessory line as well. i think she is the next big thing. love the classic lines that will last forever and her creative styling.

made by joel

i was elated to find the made by joel blog this morning. a blog crush was instantly made. joel henriques is an artist and has a blog that features crafts and toys you can make with your kids. he has the coolest design aesthetic and has templates that you can print out for most of the projects. i am so excited to find this for the winter months in new england when i am searching for art projects to keep the girls busy. oh, and did i tell you he has an art site where he sells modern still lifes and abstracts. below is the paper owl mobile project that he offers a template for. people like joel make the world a better place to live in.
